Team Goals
The goal of this program is to help dairy producers team with industry and education to improve the profitability of their businesses.
Participating producers are encouraged to:
- Establish a record keeping system and receive training in data entry and business analysis if this has not already been done.
- Monitor production and profitability on a regular basis.
- Identify and utilize industry partners that can contribute to their management efforts.
- Measure financial progress due to the Dairy Team.
- Generate their own ideas for improvement.
Who can benefit from this program?
- Highly profitable dairies wanting to go to the next level
- Farm families going through transition with new procedures and potential unforeseen problems (parlors, freestalls, TMRs, etc.
- Farm families transferring ownership from one generation to another
- Dairy farms with production or profitability that has reached a plateau and want to make changes
- Dairy farms with negative cash flow that are drawing on equity
- Farm families searching for options
Quality Counts: The Milk Quality Team Program
The SE Region offers the Milk Quality Team program to all producers in
SE Minnesota as a program to improve your profitability by improving milk quality.
Minnesota's dairy industry is teaming up to get SCC down. Working together, the Minnesota Dept. of Agriculture, University of Minnesota, Minnesota Board of Animal Health, and the Minnesota Milk Producers Association have launched the Minnesota Quality Counts campaign.
With this program, you gather a team of people and you work together on milk quality issues most important to your dairy. You determine the priorities and goals most useful for your operation. With your team members you work out the steps that work best on your dairy. Milk quality is a key to improved return from the milk you market.

Program Cost
The cost to the producer to establish a team for one year is $200. The Minnesota Legislature provides up to $600 to each dairy. These funds can be used to meet the team goals are described above. Many agricultural professionals will donate their time as team members.
